Gold treasure!

Yard sales are where it's at. Specifically, a yard sale is where this mirror was at. But I have bad news! I bought it so long ago that I can't remember how much I paid for it. $6 maybe? Or $4? Either way, I think it's cute. It's really not that big though...this picture is deceiving.

BEFORE

AFTER!
Oh, and there is no way to hang it, so it just hangs out on my kitchen counter. I moved it for this shot though...my kitchen counter is not the hardwood floor :).

Some may have argued that glazing this would have been the way to go. I glazed a part of it but didn't like it. What do you think? Are you good with the non-glazed look? I guess it doesn't really matter because I'm planning to keep this beauty around for a while. But tell me what you think anyway!

One of many

I LOVE MIRRORS!

They are easy to find, cheap, and fast. What isn't to love about them?! I found this beauty while standing in line at my local thrift store. I paid roughly $10 for it with a coupon the nice lady in front of me donated to my cause. So great! Please excuse my picture taking skills. I realize they're off center or whatever. Just pretend like you don't notice!

Here she is before. Sexy right?

Primed with some Kilz...

Aaand the color of choice?! Yellow. I used Sun Yellow by Krylon in gloss. I picked it out late at night...and a boy helped me choose. I don't know why, but picking colors is the hardest thing ever! It's probably because I don't plan to keep most of the things I paint and somebody else might not like it. That's no reason to have somebody practically hold my hand while I choose though! I just have to calmly tell myself that a can of spray paint is about $3 and I can start over if I have to. It's very grown up of me :).

I almost forgot a picture of it before the glazing took place. Here it is..

Glazing stuff is lovely. It hides all your painting mistakes (because yes, I'm not that careful all the time), it makes your super bright yellow mirror a little less shocking, and it also makes the detail stand out beautifully. Glazing is my bff. I'm not a big tutorial-making person, but this lady is all about it and you can see her glazing tutorial here. Keep in mind she is well practiced...and she makes my stuff look like a 10 year old did it. I promise, I really did try my best!

Glazing solves all color woes. I used a Martha Stuart glaze mixed with a sample of MS black paint in eggshell. Home Depot makes my dreams come true.

If I had a yellow and gray bedroom, I would totally keep this thing! But I have no place for it...and it doesn't match a single thing in my house. Who chose yellow again?! Haha I'm selling it for $45 if anybody in the Salt Lake area would like to take it off my hands.

Craptastic Clock

Well hello friends! So I created this here bloggy blog and then sort of went inactive. This awful spell of laziness hit and I wasn't motivated to finish any of the projects I've started..or post about them. Well now I've got something extra special for you! Kind of...

My roommate and I have been living in this house for about 11 months now...and we're only weeks away from our move-out date where we will part forever. So what do we do? We decide to paint our ugly clock, of course! It was actually inspired by the dead battery, so it had to come down anyway. I wish I had done this months ago...

And here's the beauty. $4 Wal Mart clock.

I spray painted it with Krylon's Cherry Red in gloss that I already had on hand. Unfortunately the original and second round of taping didn't do so well. You could still see white spots I had missed while painting. Aaand I ran out of paint. Luckily I had some red nail polish that matched perfectly!

Applying nail polish on things other than nails. This is so professional!

A little nail polish remover to undo my mistakes...
I also scraped some of it off with a razor blade.

Wal-lah! I matches the curtains and everything.

Sorry, no before picture of it hanging on the wall. Just so you know, it wasn't that cute. But now it is! You may be wondering why I went to all this trouble if I'm moving in a few weeks. Well, the next occupants of this house just happen to be my sister and her little family...so it is my gift to them. And I love spray paint. Mmhmm!

She's not ready yet..

Paint Victims! is a blog dedicated to my incredibly exciting hobby. It includes finding new friends and then painting them. Surprised to you didn't know that. Here is a little teaser...

Meet Victor.

We became acquainted last weekend. I don't think he knows what's coming, poor thing. But he should be excited, because I am! Until then, ignore all the lame changiness of this bloggy blog. I hate trying to make blogs cute or whatever, but I just want to fit in with the cool girls!
